Summer Travel Tips for Great Oral Hygiene

Whether you are planning a delightful island vacation or an epic summer road trip, there is one thing for certain: Oral hygiene remains a necessity!

Here are a few tips to ensure your pearly whites stay happy and healthy as your summer adventures unfold:

Stick to a Routine

If you brush twice a day while at home, keep this schedule while away. Your mouth will thank you for it both during and after vacation!

Make it Accessible

Pack efficiently and keep oral care simple with travel sized toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste. You can even throw your oral hygiene gear in the glove box or your carry-on for easy access during travel pit stops!

Keep it Clean

Prevent bacteria build-up in your mouth by taking care of your toothbrush. Allow it to air dry and store it separately from other toiletry items. A clean zip-lock baggie is the perfect tool for this task!

Be Aware of Your Diet

While you can still enjoy convenience store snacks or chef inspired desserts, be aware of extra sugar intake. If you can’t brush after a sweet indulgence, pack along sugar free gum, or try incorporating one of these beneficial foods, like an apple, into your travel diet.

Be Flexible

Don’t let unexpected events leave you with a sour taste in your mouth! Be creative. If you can’t brush, rinse your mouth with water. If you lose your toothbrush, gently brush with the corner of a washcloth until you can purchase a new one.
