How Does Invisalign Work?

In most cases, it is preferred over braces because of the following benefits;

  • It doesn’t change your appearance as the teeth aligners are made up of a thermoplastic material that resembles the teeth.
  • The teeth aligner is removable, thus enabling one to take care of the teeth better than if they had won braces.
  • It features fewer diet restrictions and is more comfortable than metallic braces.

Invisalign works Process

A consultation with a professional orthodontist is necessary to determine whether an Invisalign treatment will work for you. Any questions that you might have regarding any alternative treatment methods are discussed at this point.

After the consultation, a digital scan of your teeth is performed. The movement of your teeth in the course of treatment is then simulated through the use of 3-D images of your teeth obtained from the scan. These images are used to create customized teeth aligners for different treatment phases. Several aligners are supplied in the course of treatment, with each adjusted according to the teeth positioning. The aligners are non-irritating and can be worn at all times. Once installed, they cause the teeth to shift and are due for a change to the subsequent set in about two weeks. In most cases, only several teeth are moved during each stage.

How long does the Invisalign treatment take?

The time within which a treatment plan is completed depends on the severity of each case. On average, an adult takes about 12 months to be successfully treated. In the course of the treatment, regular appointments are scheduled to establish whether there is progress.
